10.10 Greetings my fellow nerds and geeks (be damn proud)! We have some awesome craziness going on at the store this month including our back issue bonanza weekend (which starts tomorrow!), 24 Hour Comic Day (can you last?), After Hours Sale and Halloween Spectacular! For all the latest info AND a look at what to expect this coming Wednesday please continue! WEEKEND BACK ISSUE SALE (25% OFF ALL BACK ISSUES) THIS WEEKEND!!! Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th we will be having a special weekend Back Issue Sale. That's right, 25% off all back issues! What do you think about that? Not bad, huh? If you've been eying a certain high priced issue, want to complete your run on a certain series or just want to check out a new series entirely, this will be the time to do it! We have a whole slew of new back issues for you to sink your teeth into and you'll undoubtedly find something that will spark your interest, from the $1 bin and beyond! Why you ask? Because we want to, that's why! 24 HOUR COMIC DAY!! We're happy to announce that we will be participating in the 24 Hour Comics Day event which occurs simultaneously throughout the country and world. This is a great opportunity for writers, artists, illustrators and comic lovers of all sorts to come in and work on a comic for 24 hours! We will be hosting the event at the store on Saturday October 18th at 12 PM and will run for 24 hours until 12 PM the next day, Sunday (Noon to Noon)! The basic gist and suggestive length is one page an hour totaling 24 pages by the end. You can work alone if you like or work with someone else, it's up to you! You aren't forced to stay for the whole 24 hour run but it would be a lot of fun (and there will be some incentive)! We'll have plenty of coffee on tap as well as some food to keep you going through the long night. We'll also provide some artistic utensils but we encourage you to bring some of your own. NOTE: IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING AND WORKING ON A PROJECT PLEASE RSVP AT COMICBOOKJONES@GMAIL.COM SO WE KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE TO EXPECT! AFTER HOURS SALE!!!! And while we're excited to spend an entire 24 hour period with a bunch of wonderful creative minds we haven't forgotten about those without any artistic integrity. We're pleased to announce that we will be having a sale throughout the night with different percentages off that will incrementally increase through the night! So here's the rundown for our AFTER HOURS SALE: 9PM - 12AM: 15% OFF EVERYTHING Socko says, "I don't know what's the matter with me! I'm losing it!" And you can lose it too, with us, in the wee hours of the morning. Those crazy enough to actually come down to the store in the early morning hours will be getting the best savings! HALLOWEEN SALE! On Friday, October 31st, come to the store in full costume and receive 15% off anything in the store and 20% off any horror related merchandise. We'll also be holding a costume contest in which the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to spend in the store! More details to come! Please note that all throughout the day we will be giving away some free comics to those who come in. LET US HELP YOU WITH YOUR HOLIDAY SHOPPING This holiday season we're looking to make your shopping experience a little easier. In the coming weeks, we will be implementing a Holiday List for you to give out to your children, friends and loved ones. Have them fill it out with some of the things they want from the store and as you pick up a certain number of items you will receive a certain percentage off. The more items you buy, the more of a discount you'll get. We're still working out the details but we'll be sure to give you more info as it becomes available. ONLINE STORE COMING SOON! We're currently in the process of setting up an online store to make your shopping experience for those who can't make it down to the store a little easier. Of course we'll fill you in on when we're ready to launch it, but rest assured it's finally underway! COMIC BOOK JONES TUESDAY TRIVIA NIGHT It's no secret by now that we have started up a Tuesday Trivia Night. The rules are simple and it's a lot of fun. Come down to the store around 6:00 PM for the sign up and choose to play by yourself or with a team (there is no limit to the amount of players on a team). There is a $2 buy in per person, all of the money going to the winning team. At 7:00 PM we'll begin the first of five rounds, each round containing 10 questions. Questions will generally hover around comic, sci-fi, tv, movie and other related trivia. After each round, points will be tallied up by our Quiz Master, Mr. Socko Jones, and we'll move on to the next round. At the end of the fifth round a winner will be crowned trivia champion. It's a ton of fun and I promise you that if you come once you'll want to come each and every week. MAGIC THE GATHERING SATURDAY TOURNAMENTS PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL NOT BE A TOURNAMENT THIS SATURDAY (11TH) BUT IF YOU WANT TO COME DOWN AND PLAY, YOU'RE MORE THAN WELCOME TO. Taking place on Saturdays at 3:00 PM, we've begun holding Magic the Gathering tournaments. Play is open to all and is similar to the set up used for our weekly Monday UFS tournaments (info about which can be found below). Entry fees for the tournament will consist of either purchase of a couple of booster packs or tournament/starter pack. If you're interested don't hesitate to come on down and join us. We also carry a full range of booster and starter sets for the new Eventide series. ULTIMATE FIGHTING SYSTEM MONDAY NIGHT TOURNAMENTS Come join us every Monday evening at 3:00 PM and enter our weekly Ultimate Fighting System (UFS) card tournaments. If you don't know how to play, don't you worry! We will teach you how and guide you through every step of the way. The entry fee is one booster pack for any game and first prize is two booster packs of your choice. Also, if you happen to be at the store on a different day, ask Waffle to tell you all about it! LOTS OF COOL STUFF AT CAFE PRESS! We opened our Cafe Press Shop and there is TONS of CBJ merchandise ready for you to sport.
